"Marian migrated with her family from Egypt to Perth in 1991 and have called Australia home ever since. She has been a long-standing member of the Coptic Orthodox Church in Western Australia and she is actively involved in many services. She is interested in the Bible Geoscience Group as she is firstly very passionate about her faith and secondly, to relate natural geological phenomenon to the Bible is very fascinating due to having a career in the mining industry.
Marian completed a four-year Bachelor of Engineering (Minerals) in 2007 at Curtin University of Technology through the Western Australian School of Mines. The first two years of study were completed at the Bentley campus and the last two years were completed at the Kalgoorlie campus. Work experience was compulsory to graduate so she worked at Telfer Gold Mine during her university years. Her main project was to introduce lead nitrate into the processing circuit to improve gold/copper recovery and grade. The findings were promising and so she went onto completing her thesis based on this study and found that lead nitrate indeed improved the overall recovery and grade of the above-mentioned commodities. Since graduating, she has worked around Australia and oversees. She started off at Prominent Hill Mine Site in South Australia in 2008. During her time there, some of her achievements include an increased copper recovery of 0.5%; and introducing an alternative collector which improved copper and gold recovery by 1%.
Marian then moved back to Perth in 2011 where she worked for Bureau Veritas (formally known as Amdel), then in an engineering company called Bellzone. In both these companies her focus was on managing technicians to conduct test work correctly and complete it in a timely manner to pass the results onto clients for discussion. Marian then worked for CPC Engineering in Zambia to assist in the start-up of a copper processing plant.
In 2017 Marian decided to put her career on hold to start a family. After achieving this goal, mothering to lovely boys, she will endeavor to get back into the mining industry in the near future."
